About eric reinhold

Welcome to the official Ryann Watters website!

I’m glad you’ve taken the time to come visit my website. If you haven’t read “Ryann Watters and the King’s Sword,” then I invite you to do so and hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I designed the site to give you lots of behind the scenes details on how the book was written, how the cover evolved, cool artwork scenes from Corey Wolfe, and pictures from the real town of Mount Dora.

I once heard it said that people are made up of the places they go, the people they know and the books they read. I would have to agree. Whenever you get the chance to travel, take advantage of it, especially out of your home state or even out of the country. While the internet and satellite television make it easier than ever to experience other regions and cultures, there is nothing like incorporating all five senses as you immerse yourself in another place.

More importantly than places, are people. There are only two things that last in this world, your relationship with God and your relationship with people – both are eternal. Of course Jesus said it best when asked what the greatest commandment was. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength… and love your neighbor as yourself.” If you do those two things, everything else will pretty much fall into place.

Lastly and where I come in, is in reading books. My foundation, Character 4 Kids, is all about getting good books with moral character and values, into kids’ hand that have experienced hardships financially or physically. You can find out more about that at www.Character-4-Kids.org. Never stop reading. It’s a fact that those who read… succeed, and that reading fosters creativity.

Again… thanks for reading my first novel. Please don’t hesitate to e-mail me with feedback on Ryann Watters and the King’s Sword, questions, and ideas for the 2009 release of Ryann Watters and the Shield of Faith.

Questions & Answers

Why did you decide to use Mount Dora, FL for the setting for your novel?

Answer: As I began to put the story together, I was thinking about making up a fictitious town in the mountains of Georgia or North Carolina. I wanted a small town and for the storyline it needed to have water (lakes, rivers, or ponds), unique and interesting shops, and brick or cobblestone alleyways. It was about that time, I took a trip over to Mount Dora (which is about 20 miles west of where I live). It was perfect! Check out the Mount Dora pics if you haven't already and make it a side trip on your next visit to Disney World Orlando.

Why the name Ryann Watters?

Answer: Since you’ve read the book, I won’t spoil it for those who haven't, except to say that there is a reason for the two N's and the two T's in his name.

Where did the name Aeliana come from?

Answer: I actually use a huge 500 page, book of names that is broken down by century, heritage, and male and female to find the names for my characters and locations. I tend to like names from the Welsh heritage, in particular from 47-700 AD (with Roman influences). Aeliana means “of the sun,” Myraddin means, “fortress by the sea,” and Morganwy means “fair seas.”

I loved book one, when is book two coming out?

Answer: Thanks... good question! I feel like I am back in the Navy, getting up at First Watch (that's 0400 - 0800) or in civilian terms 4 am to 8 am. Actually, I get up at 4:30 am or sometimes 5 am if I decide to sleep in - and start clacking away at the keyboard. I have outlined all of Book 2, "Ryann Watters and the Shield of Faith," finished the first few chapters and should be done in time for Christmas.

Who is your favorite author?

Answer: I have always loved reading. Growing up, C.S. Lewis, "Chronicles of Narnia," were some of my favorites. Also Sci-Fi author, Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Hunters of the Red Moon." Currently, I enjoy fiction and non-fiction by Randy Alcorn. He has a great book out called "Heaven" as well as "Heaven for Kids." I also enjoy fiction author, Ted Dekker. I had breakfast recently with one of my daughter's favorite authors, Bryan Davis. His has great plots and his link is on my site. Other authors you may enjoy in the same genre are Wayne Thomas Batson and Donita K. Paul.

How did you get invited to go on the Fantasy Fiction Tour in October 2008 to the West Coast?

Answer: I always like to see who and what other Christian fantasy authors are writing. As I looked at the best in this genre, I came across Bryan Davis and sent him an e-mail (I thought he was still living in a suburb of Orlando close to me). He declined and invitation for coffee, since he now lives in Tennessee, but the next time he was in Florida, we got together for breakfast. He told me about the 2007 East Coast tour and the possibility of adding 4 more authors. The rest is history!
