greetings
from eric reinhold
Welcome to the official Ryann Watters
and the Shield of Faith website!
I decided to give the reader a little insight into
me with an updated version of the Author’s Corner in book
2. I like to incorporate the tangible items about
which I am writing, into my vicinity. They might also aptly
be named props. Some of the pictures you see here include the
King’s Sword and the Shield of Faith. Both of these items
were obtained through
Real Armor of God.
They are a lot of fun to bring to book
signings, as you can see in that portion of my website. I
also have a ring that I’ve dubbed as Ryann’s ring
that was given to him by Gabriel. The black satchel is the one
I write about in book 2, which Liddy finds and within it are the
5 smooth, bright, blue stones.

I write in the back room of my house, also known
as “the cave,” by my wife. I’ve found a few
figurines that closely depicted the characters
in my book (maybe someday after a movie deal a toy company will
produce the real creatures!)… anyway, I modified them with
a little paint, including painting the Shield of Faith.
Lastly, I did take a trip over to Mount
Dora, which is about 20-25 minutes from my house and modeled
the sword, shield, cloak, belt and scabbard. I suppose next is
comes proper boots and clothing! Check out the pictures
from the Fantasy Fiction Tour to see 8-10 youth fantasy authors
in their garb.
Lord willing, my plans are to have five
books in the The Annals of Aeliana Series with
Ryann Watters. The next one is slated to be, Ryann
Watters and the Belt of Truth. I have outlined it
for the most part, the tough thing is finding the time to write.
It was difficult to get Shield of Faith
completed within one year, so I might slow the pace down, which
will probably result in a better story. I would appreciate your
prayers.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this inside peek at
what I do for a diversion from being a Financial Advisor. If you’re
ever curious to see what I do for a “real” job, go
to Academy
Wealth Management. Thanks for spending a little time with
me.
Be blessed,
Eric

Questions & Answers
Why did you decide to use Mount Dora, FL for the setting for your novel?
Answer: As I began to put the story together, I was thinking about making up a fictitious town in the mountains of Georgia or North Carolina. I wanted a small town and for the storyline it needed to have water (lakes, rivers, or ponds), unique and interesting shops, and brick or cobblestone alleyways. It was about that time, I took a trip over to Mount Dora (which is about 20 miles west of where I live). It was perfect! Check out the Mount Dora pics if you haven't already and make it a side trip on your next visit to Disney World Orlando.
Why the name Ryann Watters?
Answer: Since you’ve read the book, I won’t spoil it for those who haven't, except to say that there is a reason for the two N's and the two T's in his name.
Where did the name Aeliana come from?
Answer: I actually use a huge 500 page, book of names that is broken down by century, heritage, and male and female to find the names for my characters and locations. I tend to like names from the Welsh heritage, in particular from 47-700 AD (with Roman influences). Aeliana means “of the sun,” Myraddin means, “fortress by the sea,” and Morganwy means “fair seas.”
I loved book one, when is book two coming out?
Answer: Thanks... good question! I feel like I am back in the Navy, getting up at First Watch (that's 0400 - 0800) or in civilian terms 4 am to 8 am. Actually, I get up at 4:30 am or sometimes 5 am if I decide to sleep in - and start clacking away at the keyboard. I have outlined all of Book 2, "Ryann Watters and the Shield of Faith," finished the first few chapters and should be done in time for Christmas.
Who is your favorite author?
Answer: I have always loved reading. Growing up, C.S. Lewis, "Chronicles of Narnia," were some of my favorites. Also Sci-Fi author, Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Hunters of the Red Moon." Currently, I enjoy fiction and non-fiction by Randy Alcorn. He has a great book out called "Heaven" as well as "Heaven for Kids." I also enjoy fiction author, Ted Dekker.
I had breakfast recently with one of my daughter's favorite authors, Bryan Davis. His has great plots and his link is on my site. Other authors you may enjoy in the same genre are Wayne Thomas Batson and Donita K. Paul.
How did you get invited to go on the Fantasy Fiction Tour in October 2008 to the West Coast?
Answer: I always like to see who and what other Christian fantasy authors are writing. As I looked at the best in this genre, I came across Bryan Davis and sent him an e-mail (I thought he was still living in a suburb of Orlando close to me). He declined and invitation for coffee, since he now lives in Tennessee, but the next time he was in Florida, we got together for breakfast. He told me about the 2007 East Coast tour and the possibility of adding 4 more authors. The rest is history!
I heard book 1 was made into a movie script... any updates?
Answer: Yes, 'King's Sword' was made into a movie script and the writers adjusted a few things from the book to make it flow better for a movie viewing audience. I like their treatments, which didn't take away from the book at all. There is someone looking for the funding for the script and I have met with a group that was involved with "Facing the Giants," on how they might be able to produce the movie on a small budget. We'll see... keep praying.
